American Airlines is expanding its preflight Covid-19 testing program to cover all domestic flights to destinations with travel restrictions related to the virus.
The move gives passengers on those routes access to at-home testing via American's partner, LetsGetChecked. Passengers can begin buying the tests on Dec. 9 for travel beginning Dec. 12.
As of Tuesday, that includes travel to the cities of Chicago and Washington, D.C.; the states of Alaska, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont; and Puerto Rico. American will work with LetsGetChecked to expand availability of testing as state and local requirements evolve, according to the carrier.
American launched pre-flight testing to Hawaii in October.
"We've made great strides to help open international travel with our testing partners, and we recognize the need for similar domestic travel solutions," American Airlines chief customer officer Alison Taylor said in a statement.
