Travel volumes at biopharmaceutical company Amgen recovered
to $22 million in U.S.-booked air in 2022, with further growth to $29 million
in 2023.
As travel volume grew, Amgen also went through a switch in
travel management company service in 2022, switching from CWT to American
Express Global Business Travel for global travel needs. This year, the
company's travel team is working on process improvements, reviewing travel
policies and managing through the impact of new travel disruptors, such as New
Distribution Capability.
Amgen has made some small changes to its policy this year,
such as removing an outdated pre-approval booking process, allowing direct rail
bookings and updating advance booking requirements. Travel still, however,
requires an increased level of justification compared with pre-Covid-19.
Amgen's agreements with Delta Air Lines and United Airlines
include the carriers' joint-venture partners.
Amgen reported record revenues of $26.3 billion in 2022, up
1 percent year over year. The company had about 24,000 in total staff as of
2022.
