Meetings platform Bizzabo has acquired Klik, a Montreal-based startup that provides smart wearables technology for onsite event experiences, for $13.5 million in cash and stock, Bizzabo announced Tuesday.
Klik's wearable tech and infrastructure, which uses Bluetooth technology, can provide data visibility into attendee engagement and behavior at in-person events, according to Bizzabo. The wearables can act as a communication device and can trigger customized recommendations on content, sessions, networking opportunities and sponsors to visit. Klik has powered events for organizations including Airbnb, MIT and C2 Montreal.
Klik is Bizzabo's fourth acquisition in about six months. The company's team will join Bizzabo and be based out of its new Montreal office.
Bizzabo also announced plans for the Bizzabo App Market, expected to launch in 2022.
"The app marketplace is a comprehensive storefront where organizers will be able to browse and install innovative and exciting apps that help them create unique event experiences," said Bizzabo cofounder and CEO Eran Ben-Shusan in a statement. "It's also a program for technology companies and developers to partner with Bizzabo and integrate their solutions into the [operating system], building a stronger and more responsive platform."
