Scientific reported U.S.-booked air travel volume of $34.5 million in 2022, up
substantially from $14.4 million in 2021. More than two-thirds of volume is
domestic. The medical solutions firm transitioned TMCs to BCD in 2022 globally,
while maintaining key supplier partnerships as travel progresses to
pre-pandemic levels. Its top goal in 2023 is to stabilize TMC operations across
all markets and kickoff global air sourcing events.
There
were no major changes to the company’s travel policy in 2022. However, in 2023,
it is conducting a policy rewrite to include clarifying language around
ride-share, premium economy, home-share, and global meal limits.
Return to
office protocols are expected in the next couple of years, about the same time
the company projects travel to return to pre-pandemic levels.
Net sales
were $12.7 billion in 2022, up 7 percent from the prior year. Strong results in
2023 include an 11 percent increase in net sales to $7 billion. The company
continues to acquire and invest in companies to deepen its portfolio including Obsidio and Baylis Medical Company
(acquired in 2022) and a majority stake in Acotec in 2023.
