manufacturer Caterpillar returned to traveling safely in 2022, with a
U.S.-booked air volume of $55.1 million, about seven times its volume of $8
million in 2021.
A safe return to travel continues to
be Caterpillar's top goal in 2023, with full pre-pandemic levels of travel
projected to be reached within the next few years.
Caterpillar moved its global
headquarters in 2022 from Deerfield, Ill., to Irving, Texas, where Caterpillar
has had a presence since the 1960s. Illinois remains the state where
Caterpillar has the largest concentration of employees.
Caterpillar reported a 17 percent
year-over-year increase in total sales and revenues in 2022, totaling $59.4
billion. The company's full-time employee headcount grew to 109,100 in 2022, up
from 107,700 in 2021. About 44 percent of its global employees are in the U.S.
