U.S. energy giant Chevron had $76.1 million in
U.S.-originating air volume in 2022, while the travel management team was busy
expanding and enhancing program technologies to increase efficiencies and
improve the travel experience. The team completed regional airline and ground
transportation requests for proposal as well as its annual hotel RFP cycle. It
also developed a protocol for measuring the carbon intensity of the Chevron
travel program.
Chevron finished acquiring Renewable Energy Group in
February 2022. One goal for the travel team in 2023 has been to integrate that
company into the travel program and to continue to increase utilization of all
the online capability of the Chevron Travel and Expense program as well as the
myCWT mobile booking tool. Chevron travel leaders have evaluated travel
analytics and data consolidation tools this year and continued to participate
in New Distribution Capability pilot activities as those distribution changes
escalate. The group is currently expanding the purview of its managed meetings
and events program to international locations. The travel team also has been
tasked with aligning the program with enterprise measurement protocols for
carbon intensity and is looking at establishing goals to lower the carbon intensity
of Chevron’s business travel activities.
