Consolidated U.S. TMC: None
Emerson's 2022 U.S.-booked air volume more than tripled from
its estimated level of $5.9 million in 2021, according to BTN projections.
Sales for the company in 2022 increased 8 percent year over year to $19.6
billion. International sales represented 54 percent of total sales for the
global technology and software company, including U.S. exports. Selling,
general and administrative expenses were up less than 2 percent from 2021 to
more than $4.2 billion but fell 1.3 percentage points to represent 21.6 percent
of sales.
American Express Global Business Travel and CWT each hold a piece of Emerson's travel management services account.
The company estimated its total Scope 3 greenhouse gas
emissions to be 595.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, about
1.1 percent less than reported in 2021. Of the 2022 total, 36,100 were
attributed to business travel, nearly double the 19,200 reported for 2021.
Emerson's goal is to reduce its Scope 3 emissions by 25 percent by 2030, using
2021 as a baseline.
Emerson in April 2023 agreed to acquire National Instruments
for $8.2 billion. NI provides software-connected automated test and measurement
systems. In August, the company announced plans to purchase Germany-based
Flexim, a "global leader in clamp-on ultrasonic flow measurement for
liquids, gases and steam."
The company and its subsidiaries had approximately 85,500
employees as of Sep. 30, 2022, down about 1.4 percent from the year prior.
