Expense management app Expensify has added a new travel platform built on Spotnana's technology, the companies announced.
The newly launched Expensify Travel enables travelers to book content within Expensify alongside the servicing capabilities provided by the Spotnana platform, flight change management, cancellations and unused ticket credits as well as travel management capabilities. "Our early release will let business travelers manage it all in one place, with real-time support, customizable rules and the option to assign virtual cards to employees," Expensify CEO David Barrett said in a statement.
That early release makes those capabilities available in Expensify's web and mobile apps. Starting next week, the company will begin rolling it out to customers on its New Expensify app, its recently launched chat-based "super app."
"It's like Discord, but without all the weird gamer stuff around it," Barrett said to describe the app during the company's fourth-quarter earnings call in February. "It's basically a more business-oriented super-flexible global chat solution designed where anyone who has an email address or phone number, you can talk to them. They don't even have to use the app."
Spotnana has been providing the technology to a number of travel platform launches over the past few years, including midmarket-focused payment and expense management provider Center, which like Spotnana, was launched in part with the help of Steve Singh. Spotnana also powered the launch of a travel and booking service by Brex.
Expensify, meanwhile, said the travel platform launch does not affect its partnerships with other travel providers, including Booking.com for Business, with which Expensify announced an integration late last year.
