BTN estimates Facebook's 2019 U.S.-booked air volume at $194 million in 2019. Revenues, expenses and headcount all were up last year at the social media giant, which has offices and data centers in more than 30 different countries. Revenues grew to $70.7 billion in 2019, up from $55.8 billion in 2018, while total costs and expenses increased more than 50 percent year over year to $46.7 billion. Facebook reported 44,942 employees as of Dec. 31, 2019, up from 35,600 one year prior.
Facebook reported that its greenhouse gas emissions associated with business travel were up 8 percent year over year in 2019. However, the company was among the first of large companies in 2020 to announce a long-lasting ban on large physical meetings. In April, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said all physical meetings with 50 or more attendees would be suspended through June 2021.
