Volume: $51 million
Consolidated U.S. TMC: Amex GBT
General Motors reduced its U.S.-booked air volume by more
than a third year over year to $51 million, according to a BTN estimate. The
decline came as the company faced a 40-day work stoppage that ran from
mid-September to late October, which dealt a blow of about $3.6 billion to the
company's earnings for the year. The auto manufacturer reported 40,051 metric
tons of carbon dioxide emissions related to air travel for business in 2019, a
reduction of 20 percent compared with levels reported for 2018. GM's net sales
and revenue declined 6.7 percent year over year to $137.2 billion. It reported
69,000 salaried employees and 95,000 hourly employees as of Dec. 31, 2019, a
reduction of 9,000 total and 7,000 salaried employees compared with levels
reported a year prior.
