BTN estimates Goldman Sachs increased spending on airline tickets at the U.S. point of sale by about $6.8 million in 2019. This year, it halted non-essential business travel in early March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Net earnings for the company were down about 20 percent in 2019 to $7.9 billion, while net revenues remained relatively even at $36.5 billion. As of December 2019, headcount was 38,200 in offices in over 30 countries, compared with 36,600 people in 2018. Goldman Sachs acquired United Capital Financial Advisors with 220 financial advisors in 2019 for $750 million and announced plans to purchase Folio Financial with 160 employees in May 2020. The company reduced its Scope 3 carbon emissions for business travel by 3 percent in 2019 to 135,473 metric tons.
