Google
increased its U.S.-booked air volume by $24 million in 2015. Half the air
tickets sold in the United States were for international travel. The company
anticipates its U.S.-booked air volume will grow by $30 million in 2016. The
company operates with a single global travel policy. Last year, it altered its
policy to increase fare caps on routes longer than 14 hours, enabling employees
to fly business class on such flights. The travel program services 45,000
employees. Google’s travel program allows open bookings. Twenty percent of
bookings went through approved online tools last year, and just 18 percent
required agent assistance. The company uses an individual bill, individual pay
model.
