Although U.S.-booked air spend at industrial
conglomerate Honeywell in 2022 substantially exceeded the 2021 figure of $16
million, it remained far below 2019 levels, when spend was $85 million (all
figures are BTN estimates). Employee numbers fell from 113,000 in 2019 to
99,000 in 2021 and 97,000 in 2022.
The 2022 ESG report for Honeywell states that
emissions from business travel rose from 53,000 metric tonnes CO2e in 2020 to
61,000 tonnes in 2021. In February 2023, the company was named as one of five
inaugural investors in the United Airlines Ventures Sustainable Flight Fund,
which is focused on sustainable aviation fuel research, technology and
production.
Honeywell reported sales in 2022 of $35
billion, up from $34 billion the previous year. Net income fell from $5.6
billion to $5.0 billion. In 2023, Honeywell signaled its ambition to make
acquisitions worth up to $7 billion. Sales for the second quarter of 2023 were
$9.1 billion, up 2 percent year on year.
