InterContinental Hotels Group has acquired luxury hotel brand Six Senses for $300 million in cash. IHG will acquire all Six Senses' operating companies and its Six Senses and Evason brands. Real estate assets will not be included. Six Senses manages 16 resorts, hotels and spas in such markets as China, France, Indonesia, Singapore, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. IHG CEO Keith Barr said Six Senses' pipeline of 18 management contracts and over 50 more under negotiation will offer IHG "high-quality growth." Those contracts also fuel IHG's hopes to add more than 60 Six Senses hotels over the next decade.
