Technology company Intel had a total U.S.-booked air spend of $95 million last year, up from $89 million in 2018. For 2020, Intel estimates its U.S.-booked air spend will plummet to $10 million. The company, which generated a total revenue of $33.1 billion last year, operates under a single global travel policy and a single U.S. travel policy. All U.S.-booked air and 99 percent of air travel booked outside the U.S. went through American Express Global Business Travel. In 2019, 27 percent of U.S.-booked air travel was domestic. About 63 percent of 2019 of U.S. bookings were made through approved online tools and 52 percent required no agent assistance.
In 2019, the company expanded the availability of its online booking tool globally and enhanced travel data visualization tools. Intel mandated bookings with its preferred channels. In 2020, Intel will continue to explore innovative travel technological solutions, NDC content integrations and additional policy changes.
