The International Monetary Fund is an organization of 190
countries working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial
stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and
sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty. IMF saw business travel volume
increase by more than $31 million in 2022, from $7.7 million the year prior,
following the removal of pandemic-induced international travel restrictions.
IMF maintained existing travel and expense policies throughout
2022, but, following the massive uptick in demand, is currently assessing tools
to measure and evaluate its carbon footprint related to travel as well as
renegotiate supplier contracts.
The organization expects travel spending to increase further in
2023 to $59 million and likely reach 2019 levels by the end of the year.
