2019 U.S.-Booked Air
Volume: $50 million
Consolidated U.S. TMC: BCD
Professional services firm Jacobs makes its first appearance
on the CT100 with a BTN-estimated 2019 U.S.-booked air volume of $50 million.
Jacobs in its fiscal year 2019, which ended Sept. 27, 2019, totaled more than
$12.7 billion in revenue, up from $10.6 billion in the prior year, and at the
end of fiscal 2019 had about 52,000 staff employees.
The company has targeted its business travel as a major
source of its carbon emissions and had pledged to reduce by 2022 emissions
generated by its business travel by 20 percent from 2019. In line with this
commitment and before the pandemic, which has substantially reduced travel,
Jacobs had encouraged remote conferencing in lieu of in-person meetings and
implemented dashboards for managers and employees that display the company's
progress in meeting the emissions goal. Amid Covid-19, the company pivoted to
full remote working through acceleration of strategic investment in IT
infrastructure.
Jacobs in fiscal 2019 generated a little more than 100,000
metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from its business travel, including
air travel, hotel stays and ground transportation, with air travel accounting
for about 76,400 metric tons of that total. Jacobs is offsetting its 2019
business travel emissions to fulfill a commitment to be carbon neutral in 2020.
