Nestlé’s estimated U.S.-booked air volume returned in 2022 to 70 percent
of its 2019 levels, when the estimated figure was $50 million. In 2021,
estimated spend was $6.3 million.
Globally, employee numbers have declined from 291,000 in 2019 to 276,000
in 2021 and 275,000 in 2022. However, sales rose 8.4 percent year-on-year to 94
billion Swiss francs in 2022. Acquisitions during 2022 inlcuded Puravida, The
Better Health Company and, from Starbucks, the Seattle’s Best Coffee brand. For
the first half of 2023, sales rose 1.6 percent year-on-year to 46 billion Swiss
francs.
In March 2023, Nestlé published a Net Zero Roadmap. The document stated a
goal of reducing combined business travel and commuting emissions from a
baseline of 800,000 metric tonnes CO2e in 2018 to 500,000 tonnes by 2030.
