The hospitality industry has another new hotel company, StayAPT Suites, which launched on Thursday. The independent company mainly targets business travelers as well as relocated employees and leisure guests. StayAPT Suites plans to open its first hotel in May in Fort Belvoir, Va., outside of Washington, D.C., with 11 more newly constructed hotels slated to open later in 2020, and an additional 30 in 2021.
Even though guests can stay for as little as one night, "we saw an opportunity to reinvent long-term lodging and to provide our guests with what they really want—and that is the space and in-room amenities to truly live comfortably while traveling away from home," said StayAPT Suites president and CEO Gary DeLapp.
Each suite will include at least 500 square feet of living space; an open-concept living room with sleeper sofa, lounge chair and a 55-inch TV; a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator; a kitchen island with seating; central air conditioning; and a separate bedroom with another large TV, walk-in closet, king-size bed or double queen beds and a work area.
In addition, there will be an outdoor courtyard area with a built-in grill station and fire pit, on-site laundry room and a fitness facility. The buildings will house between 59 to 89 units.
The chain's goal is to build a portfolio of more than 100 company-owned and operated hotels and more than 200 franchise locations within the next five years. In addition to the hotel in Fort Belvoir, the other 11 planned openings for 2020 will be in Montgomery, Ala.; Charlotte, Goldsboro and Raleigh/Morrisville, N.C.; Greenville, Greer, Columbia/Irmo, North Charleston and Rock Hill, S.C.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Houston/Webster, Texas.
