2022 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $22M
Consolidated U.S. TMC: CWT
BTN estimates that pharmaceutical firm Novartis spent $22
million in U.S.-booked air in 2022, nearly three times the estimated $8 million
it spent last year but still only about a fifth of its pre-pandemic volume in
2091.
The company started a large transformation of its
organization in 2022 as it moves to be a pure-play medicines company. That
includes the spinoff of its Sandoz generics and biosimilars division, which is
expected to happen in the coming months. As of the end of 2022, Novartis
reported about 102,000 full-time employees, down from 104,000 in 2021.
Novartis’ net sales in 2022 were down 2 percent year over
year to $50.5 billion, although they were up 4 percent year over year when the
impact of exchange rate fluctuations are taken into consideration.
