Investment firm Onex Corp. has completed its $5 billion acquisition of WestJet, the company announced. The deal, first announced in May, takes the carrier private at a value of $31 per share. WestJet's common shares will be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange within a few trading days, according to the company. The closing comes after final approval from the Canadian Transportation Agency, which stipulated that Onex must keep WestJet under Canadian ownership and control.
