Qantas has launched a new distribution platform through
which third-party channels can better mimic capabilities of the carrier's
website, including the ability to book Extra Legroom seating and other extras
and to see images of cabins and meals. The platform, which it developed with
Farelogix and which is Level 3 certified under the International Air Transport
Association's New Distribution Capability standard, also can provide travelers'
frequent-flyer information and tier statuses at the point of sale. Travelport,
Serko and Corporate Travel Management are the first adopters, and Qantas said
it is "working closely with its other GDS and agency partners to adopt the
new technology and innovate as the platform evolves."
