BTN estimates pharmaceutical giant Sanofi's 2019 spend on U.S.-booked air travel decreased year over year. Even before the pandemic, Sanofi had encouraged the use of virtual meetings and videoconferencing as a method of emissions reduction, and its Concur online booking tool prompts would-be travelers to consider travel alternatives before booking. Sanofi in 2019 generated about 155,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent as a result of its business travel, up from 151,400 in 2018.
Sanofi's 2019 revenue totaled 36.1 billion euros, up from 34.5 billion euros in 2018. The company at the end of 2019 had about 100,400 employees, down from 104,200 at the end of 2018.
