2022 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $60M
Consolidated U.S. TMC: Amex GBT
Warner Bros. Discovery was created in April
2022 from a merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery. BTN estimates aggregated pre-
and post-merger U.S.-booked air volume in 2022 of the two entities amounted to
$60 million, up from an estimated $33.5 million in 2021.
Warner Bros. Discovery ended 2022 with $49.5
billion of gross debt and a loss for the final three months of the year of $2.1
billion. Total financial restructuring costs resulting from the merger were
estimated at $4.1 billion to $5.3 billion. The new company has pledged to find
$5 billion in “synergies,” including a substantial reduction in headcount.
In 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery reported a net
loss for April to June of $1.24 billion, down $3.4 billion year-on-year.
Revenue was down 4 percent on a pro forma basis. In September, the company
announced that continuing strikes by writers and actors would deplete earnings
for 2023 by an estimated $300 million to $500 million.
As of September 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery
had not announced an emission reduction strategy or issued a sustainability
report.
