National Grabs First Place Again in BTN's Annual Car Rental Survey

Travel buyers gave car rental companies mixed results in BTN's 2024 Car Rental Survey, with three of the five rated brands garnering higher scores compared with 2023, but two declining. The average for the industry was 4.08 on an ascending scale of one to five, down from 4.12 last year. National Car Rental secured another win, its ninth in a row, making it undefeated for as long as BTN has been conducting the survey.

Ride-hail companies upped their game the past year, increasing scores in all seven categories for which BTN surveyed, leading to an overall average score of 3.74.

BTN 2024 Car Rental & Ground Transportation Survey Methodology

Business Travel News fielded its annual Car Rental and Ground Transportation survey to a select group of the BTN audience from Feb. 15, 2024 to Mar. 11, 2024, asking them to rate car rental brands on a scale of 1 to 5 across 10 criteria and respond regarding their partnerships over the previous 12 months. The 351 respondents included corporate travel buyers and corporate travel agents. All respondents were limited to rating providers with which they held contracts or incurred significant volume in the last 12 months. BTN gathered general sentiment regarding the chauffeured car and ride-hail services from all respondents who indicated their travelers engaged with those services regularly.
