Carlson Wagonlit Travel reported 2017 full-year transaction volume
rose nearly 4 percent year over year to $23.2 billion. Full-year revenue rose 2
percent to $1.4 billion. The privately held mega travel management company signed $1.7 billion in new business last
year "due to particularly robust growth in Asia/Pacific and the Americas,"
according to the company. Those wins exclude network partners but include CWT
joint ventures. In 2017, CWT processed 60 million transactions, up 1.5 percent
from 2016. The company reported its CWT Meetings & Events and CWT Solutions
Group units saw 2017 revenue grow year over year by 6 percent and 12 percent,
respectively, but did not disclose dollar values. Recovering from a years-long
downturn in energy client travel, the CWT Energy, Resources & Marine unit saw
reported stable revenues in 2017. Meanwhile, CWT surpassed 1 million registered
users of the CWT To Go mobile app and has begun testing air bookings through
the channel.
